Blocky Random sandstone provides a cost-effective solution for retaining projects where a more natural, rugged finish is desired. Blocks are generally rougher cut with minimal sawn faces and wider size tolerances, creating a more rustic aesthetic. While less refined than A- or B-Grade, Blocky Random sandstone still delivers structural integrity required as per AS-4678 needed for functional aesthetic retaining walls albeit at an economical price point.
Blocky Random sandstone blocks are the most economical option available, suited to projects where budget and functionality take priority over appearance. These blocks typically have one or no sawn faces, with the remaining surfaces left in their natural quarried state. Dimensional tolerances are broader than A- or B-Grade, resulting in more variation in block size and finish. This makes Blocky Random sandstone well suited for rural, large-scale, or less formal retaining walls. Despite their rougher presentation, the blocks still provide equally reliable structural performance when installed.
Recommended for retaining walls where a rugged, natural appearance is desired – including rural and agricultural applications, large-scale landscaping, house pads, or replacing sleeper walls. Block random sandstone is ideal for projects where structural performance is required, but clean, uniform lines are not a priority.
